We are so not into feeling blue. To counteract the negative hype around Blue Monday we’ve gathered 4 mood-boosting tips from our experts to keep hair looking - and feeling - amazing.

1. Start the day as you mean to go on

Maximise the feel-good opportunities of your morning routine and treat yourself to a scalp massage in the shower. Deposit a 50p size amount of shampoo on the top of your head and work into a lather. ‘Use your fingertips and work firmly in circular motions across the scalp,’ says colourist Jason Hogan. Soothe your scalp and soul in one.

2. Wear the right kind of bedhead

We know how much a good hair day can influence the mood of the rest of your day, but we also know how enticing those extra 5 minutes in bed can be. That’s why stylist Adam Embleton has put together a ‘lazy hair hack’ to make un-done hair feel a little more ‘done’, in no time at all.

Start off by splitting your hair into two sections down the middle. Spritz with a little Tinted Dry Shampoo for texture and then create a simple, loose braid in each.

Roughly pull your braids apart to thicken and texturise.

Then, taking both braids, twist them together into a low bun and pin in place, leaving face-framing pieces out at front.

This style looks best the messier it is, so don’t worry about flyways or clips showing - embrace it!

3. Have fun with your colour

It’s easy to feel stuck in a rut with your hair, but committing to a big change can be overwhelming. Enter semi-permanent shades. These hues only last a few washes and there's a rainbow of pastel colours out there which are perfect for some low-commitment fun. You could even treat your hair to a different kind of Blue Monday.

If pastels aren't your thing, you could try a more subtle way of tailoring your tone with our range of Shade Shot Glosses. Choose Champagne Blonde for sun-kissed vibes, Icy Blonde for a bright not brassy finish, Chestnut Brunette will make your hair sweet like chocolate, while Smoky Brunette will keep it cool and collected.
