Why Hair Sectioning Matters When Colouring Hair At Home

Before you dive into colouring, sectioning your hair ensures:

Even distribution of colour

No missed spots

A more manageable, stress-free process

Step-by-Step Guide to Sectioning Your Hair

1⃣ Start with Dry, Detangled Hair

Before sectioning, brush or comb through your hair to remove any knots. This makes parting and application much smoother.

2⃣ Divide Your Hair into Four Quadrants

The easiest and most effective way to section hair is into four parts:

  • Use the end of a comb to create a centre part from your forehead to the nape of your neck.

  • Make a second part from ear to ear across the crown.

  • Clip each section securely using hair clips.

3⃣ Work One Section at a Time

Apply colour starting from the roots and working towards the ends, fully saturating each strand for even coverage. Working through one section at a time.

4⃣ Use the Right Tools

  • Sectioning Clips to keep hair in place.

  • Tail Comb for precise parting.

  • Gloves to protect your hands from stains.

5⃣ Check for Missed Spots

Before the processing time is up, gently comb through your hair to ensure even saturation, especially around the hairline and roots. Massage your hands into your roots and hair to ensure even coverage.
