You've spent both time and money on your colour, so making it last between salon appointments (or your next at-home root touch-up) makes sense, right? That's where Josh's colour and concern-specific care comes in.
Environmental stress affects all coloured hair, so it’s important to protect hair with a barrier against potential damage. Whatever your shade, you should always look for care products containing ingredients which will help to protect your colour. What makes hair colour fade?
The sun
You wouldn’t expose your skin to the sun without SPF protection – try to think of your hair in the same way. UV rays can affect your hair texture and cause unwanted fade (brunettes tend to go red and blondes can get a yellowy-tone). What to do right after coloring hair to prevent this? As prevention is much better than cure, all of Josh’s shampoos, conditioners and the Everything Mask contain both UVA and UVB filters to help to shield your hair from sun damage.
Pollution
Care products that are packed with antioxidants are the way to go when it comes to protecting your colour and combatting the negative effects of pollution. Josh’s blonde care regime contains barley, a natural antioxidant full of vitamins and powerful amino acids, and kakadu plum, an Australian super fruit which just happens to be the world’s richest source of natural vitamin C. For brunettes, saffron and turmeric promote vibrancy while fighting any oxidative damage, and black oats provide vitamins and minerals to improve structure as they protect your hair.
Harsh cleansers
A good care routine is our top aftercare advice for colouring hair to maintain your colour. Sulphate-free shampoos, conditioners and treatments will keep your hair healthy and your colour vibrant. Yarrow extract is a natural source of soap that’s used in all of Josh’s shampoos, and conditioners filled with ethically sourced Amazonian oils keep hair soft and shiny. They provide a further barrier to environmental damage too, so it’s win win.
